'Project Face': Artist Rina Dweck Changed Her Facebook Profile Picture Every Day For A Year (PHOTOS)

And You Thought You Were Obsessed With Facebook?

If role-playing photographer par excellence Cindy Sherman had an unhealthy Facebook addiction, we'd imagine the result would look something like Rina Dweck's "Project Face." The New York based artist posted a photo of herself a day on her Facebook page for an entire year, calling her first photograph in the series "Watch Out Cindy" in honor of Sherman's chameleon-like qualities.

"I was mostly painting up until then," Dweck told The Huffington Post in a phone interview. "But I was also a mom and felt like I needed to start a restart button. So I started changing my profile picture every day as a form of self-expression."

Dweck normally spends around two hours on each photo, applying transformative hair and makeup that turns the busy mother of three into a sobbing beauty pageant contestant, a Hasidic man and a version of Shepard Fairey's "Hope" poster. Others get more avant-garde and Yayoi Kusama-like; for example, when she covers her face in eyeballs or camouflages herself into a glittery seascape, she becomes at one with her surroundings.

So why devote hours a day to the bottomless pit that is Facebook? Dweck replied: "I want to ask: How do we interact with social media? And how do we use it to our advantage?" (Hey, as long as you're not stalking your ex for the millionth time, we're all for personal expression.)
