When I see you

And you look into me with your eye of curiousity

Our inner worlds co-emerge

In a wordless place

It is there that I step into the space of the space between us

Where there’s always that tension between the desire to be myself

And the need to connect and merge

In the moment of our space

The shared area of “us”

I have to close my eyes to see

Looking within with curiosity

Awe and terror

When we teach yoga we “hold space” for our students

In the yoga of our love we hold space for each other

Our practice in both is to stay mindful of

Sensations, perceptions, forms and colors, thoughts and images

And to respond from a place of gentle compassion

How can we practice that in the middle of our inner storms

Where do we find space within ourselves when the skies are turbulent

And winds are bitter

Sure, love as sunshine

But I need to stay in my body

When my legs feel like running

The truth is that this is the journey for all of us

To find our love

Be in our space of forgiveness and healing

Each moment, we try to remember to return to what is

And to relax in that space that we all share
