Publish America Scam? Misleading Claims Anger Readers, Authors

The print-on-demand publishing company Publish America is under pressure following the reaction to a promise on its website, now removed, to present to JK Rowling the work of anyone who paid them $49. A similar offer was made in regard to the Edinburgh International Book Festival.

The Maryland-based publisher has been criticized in the past for its business practices, and one disgruntled former customer has created a blog in order to badmouth Publish America's practices.

Though they have since removed the information from their site, a previously cached version of one of Publish America's webpages reveals that the company previously offered for sale the ability to present work to the London Review of Books, the BBC and The Guardian book review staff.
