Russian President Vladimir Putin is speaking out about President Donald Trump’s surprise decision to fire FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday.

We have nothing to do with that,” Putin said Wednesday.

The Russian president was in hockey gear, getting ready to hit the ice for a game, when he was approached by Elizabeth Palmer of CBS News:

Palmer asked what effect the move could have on U.S.-Russia relations, already tense amid allegations that Moscow interfered in the 2016 election and with Comey’s firing coming as the FBI was investigating possible links between the Kremlin and Trump associates.

“There will be no effect,” Putin said via Dmitry Peskov, a press aide who acted as translator. “Your question looks very funny for me. Don’t be angry with me.”

Putin said Trump was acting “in accordance with his law, the Constitution.”

He then suggested Palmer join the hockey game.

“You see, I am going to play hockey with the hockey fans,” he said. “And I invite you to do the same.”

Putin scored seven goals in the game as his side won the friendly match by a score of 17-6, according to The New York Times. The newspaper said the match was part of a gala and involved “senior officials, oligarchs and various hockey greats.”
