Rachel Maddow Says NBC News Won't Talk To Her On Air About Brian Williams

Rachel Maddow: NBC News Won't Talk To Us On Air

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow said during her program Tuesday evening that no one from NBC News will come on her show to discuss the situation surrounding Brian Williams, despite the relationship between the two networks.

The controversy involving Williams came to a head on Tuesday after NBC News president Deborah Turness announced that the "Nightly News" anchor would be suspended for six months without pay. The suspension comes after Williams admitted to misrepresenting certain facts about his time covering the Iraq War in 2003.

Maddow said Tuesday that it is "awkward" for her to report news about the network she works right down the hall from -- especially when no one from that network will speak to her on air.

"Tonight, as we are reporting on this breaking news about the news division of which we are a part, NBC News will not make anyone available to discuss this story with us."

"You'd think that if they're going to talk to anybody about this, we might reasonably get a leg up on getting interviews with any NBC News executives to explain this decision if only because we're right down the hall," she continued. "But so far, no one."
