Rachel Maddow criticized Herman Cain on her show Wednesday night for his mounting foreign policy gaffes. She has laid into the GOP candidate for his foreign policy comments in the past, and has even questioned the authenticity of his campaign by calling it "satire." However, she took things to a whole new level by making her own protest sign about Cain.
Maddow opened her show by running clips of George W. Bush being interviewed in 1999 by a reporter in Boston, Massachusettes. Bush was asked to name four leaders in what the reporter called "four hotspots," which Bush could not do.
"Does this remind you of anybody?" Maddow asked viewers. She then ran clips of Herman Cain's "Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan" comment, his comment that China was "trying to build nuclear capability," when the nation has had nuclear weapons since 1964, and his Libya gaffe.
Maddow mocked Cain's campaign for trying to turn what she called their "foreign policy problem" into "an asset." She quoted Cain who recently told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he was "not supposed to know anything about foreign policy." Maddow also ran a clip of Cain telling supporters that he was "often criticized for not knowing this and that..." and that "a leader does not have to know everything."
Maddow held up a massive banner that said "Herman Cain Is An Art Project." Maddow was reiterating her point that, according to her, Cain's campaign cannot be considered serious. "I don't think I need to try to prove this anymore," Maddow said. "I think the evidence is overwhelming. Can we just concede that we agree on this?" Maddow asked of her viewers.
