Rainn Wilson Tweets Steve Carell Emmy Snub Anger

Rainn Wilson Shames TV World Over Steve Carell Emmy Snub

Despite crafting one of the funniest and most beloved characters in recent TV memory, Steve Carell entered Sunday night without ever having been honored with an Emmy Award for his now vacated role on "The Office" as Michael Scott. It was 0-for-5 in the Outstanding Actor In A Comedy Series for the actor, with one last chance at glory hanging in the balance.

Carell was the sentimental favorite amongst fans and critics, but in a bit of a surprise, it wasn't meant to be; Jim Parsons, of "The Big Bang Theory," surprised once again with his second straight win in the category. The result sparked a bit of outrage, with Carell's "Office" co-star (and loyal TV friend) Rainn Wilson tweeting his displeasure.

"The world of TV should be ashamed of itself that Steve Carell never won an Emmy for Michael Gary Scott. Goodnight," the actor wrote.

Before the show, Carell downplayed expectations, telling MTV, "[Winning] would be a culmination of all my hopes and dreams. It would be great, but I'm putting my expectations on the fairly low side and just trying to enjoy it and see my friends. I haven't seen my friends from The Office in a while, so that's going to be fun."
