'Raising Hope' Reunites 'My Name Is Earl' Cast For Tribute Episode (VIDEO)

'Raising Hope' Tribute Episode To 'My Name Is Earl'

For four seasons Greg Garcia made fans laugh with "My Name Is Earl." While that NBC show ended in 2009, and Garcia has since moved on to "Raising Hope," he never lost his love for his former show. He's had plenty of the "Earl" cast on "Hope" for various guest appearances. But in the first of this week's back-to-back episode, it was a full-on "My Name Is Earl" tribute episode.

Sure, the actors are all playing different roles, but there were still several familiar elements. Jason Lee plays rock star Smokey Floyd in the "Hope" universe. In this episode it was revealed that he'd made a list of all the people he'd wronged, and had set out to make things right. Sound familiar?

The Chances were on his list, thus bringing him into their lives in time for Hope's birthday party. A series of misadventures led to Smokey Floyd joining up with the rest of the entertainment -- and the pizza guy -- to form a children's band. Playing alongside him were guest stars Ethan Suplee, Jaime Pressly, Eddie Steeples and Nadine Velazquez.

There were "Earl" allusions and jokes throughout the episode, culminating in Jason Lee providing the closing narration. The AV Club thought the fun was probably lost on a many viewers who'd never seen an episode of "My Name Is Earl," but for those who did get it, it was a great homage.

Come back for the hour-long season finale of "Raising Hope" on Thursday, March 28 at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
