'Random Access Memories' Sales Drop In Daft Punk Album's Second Week

Daft Punk's big return, "Random Access Memories," may soon become just a memory.

After weeks of hype, the electronic duo's fourth studio album hit stores on May 17. "Random Access Memories" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Led by Daft Punk's lead single with Pharrell Williams, "Get Lucky," the album sold 338,677 copies in its first week.

Recent figures for the album's second week, however, are not so impressive. Sales for "Random Access Memories" reportedly dropped 73 percent as the album sold 92,677 copies in its second week. While a second-week dip in sales can be expected, a dropoff this large after a strong, but not record-breaking first week, is surprising.

Made up of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, Daft Punk announced last month that their work on "Random Access Memories" is not done. The duo has plans to remix the album, telling BBC Radio 1, "We're working on some mixes ourselves. So, yes, there will probably be Daft Punk mixes of Daft Punk. Usually, we never mix ourselves, that's something we feel we're interested in doing this time."
