Random acts of kindness happen in all shapes and sizes all around the world. On April 18th, the Montreal Gazette reported a particularly poignant story involving a woman at Saint Mary's Hospital who was undergoing tests for hip replacement. These tests required her to keep returning to the hospital, even though the walk to the Metro station was painful and taking a taxi was too expensive.
From the Gazette, the woman writes:
While paying for a magazine, I remarked that it was too bad I only had $20 on me, it surely wouldn't be enough to take me home to St. Laurent. I shuffled out of the store to wait for the bus, but I had gone about 10 meters when I felt someone tapping me on the shoulder. It was the young lady who ran the store that day. She handed me a $20 bill and said: "Take a taxi." I was so overwhelmed I cried.
