Readers Thank Their Librarians

Readers Thank Their Librarians

The e-book has undoubtedly been gaining popularity for quite some time now, and this summer has seen a bigger boom in the e-reader market than ever before. With the rise of the e-book and the fall of the brick and mortar book store, Congress is beginning to turn it’s attention over to the future of public libraries. With cuts and layoffs announced all over the world people are starting to wonder: do we really need public libraries anymore?

In light of these changes in book publishing, Random House asked their Twitter followers to show their librarians a little love and tweet a thank you to the librarians who helped shape the readers they are today. Avid readers have taken to Twitter with the hashtag #thankyoulibrarian to show their undying appreciation for the men and women working in libraries today and inspiring people to read. We've picked some of our favorite tweets so far.
