Reagan And Racism War Continues On New York Times Op-Ed Page


The battleground had been silent for a few days, but conflict resumed today with another shot fired on The New York Times' Op-Ed page -- over the unlikely subject of a 27-year-old statement by Ronald Reagan in a Mississippi town named Neshoba.

Lou Cannon, the longtime Washington Post reporter and Reagan biographer, appears today, defending the former president, and taking the side of columnist David Brooks against his colleagues Paul Krugman and Bob Herbert, who have been squabbling about it for days-- with no names being mentioned, of course.
