As we get older, we can tend to lose ourselves in raising a family, work or even the stories that no longer serve us.

By being caught up in our daily lives and the distractions that come along with that, we can forget the true essence of our being.

What is the true essence of our being? It's our spirit.

I would like to share a story about one of my experiences from a trip to Sedona that was prompted by a voice I heard that said "you need to bring the healers of the world together on your platform and you need to go back to Sedona."

Now some of you may be rolling your eyes, but one thing I have learned is to listen to those voices and not question them.

Spirit can guide you in many ways.

I met with one of the Shamanic Healers and Counselors who I had previously worked with four years ago when I started my journey to rediscovering and reconnecting with myself. As I was discussing my personal, business and spiritual journey over the last four years, my eyes swelled up with tears -- tears of happiness and sadness.

I realized at that moment that I had let the old story of "not feeling good enough" enter back into my life. This was story that stemmed from my childhood, a story of how my grandparents treated me and a story that I carried through most of my adult life. It seemed like that story always reappeared when I would ask for help and advice with my tech startup and was ignored.

My Shaman guided me through an exercise, in which I was asked to describe myself as I looked to my left and to my right.

I sat there with my eyes closed in deep thought.

I began speaking about the person I saw on the left.

The person that I saw was very focused on business and always trying to prove herself. What was interesting however, was how this person looked and felt.

The person on my left (taken directly from the notes) had a scrunching face, a weak and fragile body, was ugly, unhappy, and had a big face which was quite dominant.

This was the ego/victim that I was speaking about.

I'm not going to lie, I just sat there and I cried. I remember saying, I want to walk away from that. More like run, not walk because that is not who I truly am.

We then further discussed the person on the left, my current state of affairs in pivoting my startup, and letting go of all stories of "not feeling good enough".

I closed my eyes again.

This time, I was focused on the person on the right.

A big smile came across my face. When asked who I saw, I almost starting laughing because I felt so much happiness.

The person who I saw on the right (taken from the notes) was a plump cherub that was so happy and full of life and spunk -- God's child, a spiritual whole one.

This plump cherub was skipping and running through green fields with a big smile and singing joyfully. I wanted to hug this little cherub girl who was beautiful, full of life, bright and whose face had a radiant glow. This cherub was completely whole.

I didn't want to open my eyes because I was lost in this feeling of happiness and laughter.

At that moment, I reconnected with the true essence of my being again. The person that I call and my mother calls, Jenny. This is the person that is "good enough", intelligent, loving, caring, giving and has so much to offer.

By reconnecting with the true essence of our being again, we can be brought back to a place of oneness, a place of love, a place of being fearless, and a place of joy and happiness.

I highly recommend doing this exercise and writing down what you see.

It may bring out raw emotions, but can assist you with healing and reconnecting with the true essence of your being. This exercise can help you with becoming more self-aware, correcting your inner balance and connecting to your higher purpose, releasing inhibitions and living with your authentic self, awakening your inner spirit, and finding that place of oneness.

We all have the power within us to BeOne so we can Thrive.
