The red carpet at the 2014 Academy Awards was filled with stunning couture, but perhaps the most important gown of them all was worn by actress Olga Kurylenko.
What made Kurylenko's fabulous Oscars look so special was the materials used to create it. Designed by Alice Elia, a student at Parisian fashion school ESMOD, the dress was made with with hand-dyed organic silk as part of Red Carpet Green Dress, an initiative to combine fashion and sustainability.
HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani spoke with Elia and Red Carpet Green Dress founder Suzy Amis-Cameron about what went into producing Kurylenko's dress and how beautiful garments like it can shift the narrative of green clothing.
"There's been a stigma around eco clothes because people always think of hippies in Birkenstocks and burlap and hemp," Amis-Cameron said. "The texture of the fabrics that are coming out now are really beautiful and sustainable. ... The colors are extraordinary, and they're not toxic and they don't hurt the environment and they don't hurt your body."
