Reddit Suffers DDoS Attack

On Friday, Reddit was hit with a DDoS attack, or distributed denial of service attack. A DDoS attack interrupts a website's connection, making the website inaccessible or slow. There is a banner on Reddit's front page that reads "Site availability is being impacted by a malicious DDoS attack. Please stay tuned." It is not clear who perpetrated the attack or why. "All we know is it is blatantly malicious," a Reddit representative told the Huffington Post.

Reddit has taken a lot of heat and criticism over the subreddit focused on finding the perpetrators of the Boston Marathon bombings. Soon after the bombings, redditors started to post photos and videos of the attack, accusing people who are now known to be innocent. It is unclear whether or not this DDoS attack has anything to do with this recent controversy.
