Reese Witherspoon is totally here for a third “Legally Blonde” film.
The actress recently told E! News there have been talks of adding a new film to the franchise, explaining how she’s looking for “somebody really clever to come up with a great idea.” That’s because now just so happens to be the perfect time to bring Elle Woods back to the big screen.
“I do think it’s a good time to do it,” Witherspoon said. “I think women need that kind of positivity right now.”
Asked for her thoughts on the future of women’s issues under President Trump, perhaps given his record on the subject, the Oscar winner responded to say that simply focusing on life’s positives keeps her going.
“It’s a great privilege to be a woman in America. We have many rights and freedoms that a lot of women don’t have all over the world. I try to celebrate that,” she told the outlet, explaining how her on-screen work allows her to “show how important women are” offscreen.
Witherspoon expressed similar sentiments about a third “Legally Blonde” movie in a 2015 interview on Lifetime’s “Fashionably Late.”
“I actually think it’s kind of great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important [it] is to get more women [in office],” she said at the time. “And I think it’d be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office.”
We couldn’t agree more.
