Reggie Love, President Barack Obama's personal aide, is planning to leave the White House by the end of the year, The Washington Post reported.
A key member of the Obama entourage, Love is the president's "body man" -- a role that involves playing personal assistant, gatekeeper and workout partner. During 18-hour days as Obama's shadow, Love carries suitcases and snacks, shares music suggestions and talks sports. He's a constant presence in the West Wing, but he also caters to the president's needs during all trips away from the White House.
The handsome and popular 30-year-old earned a degree in political science and public policy from Duke University, where he played on both the basketball and the football teams. After college, he trialled for the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys, then joined Obama's Senate office as an assistant. There he quickly learned to anticipate the lawmaker's needs and wants. Love has remained by Obama's side for six years.
Although the White House did not offer details about Love's departure, his exit comes at a time of transition for the administration. Several longtime advisers have left over the past year, including White House Council of Economic Advisers chairman Austan Goolsbee, White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton, White House Domestic Policy Council director Melody Barnes and White House deputy communications director Jen Psaki.
