Regis Philbin's Last Day On 'Live': Be November 18

Regis Reveals His Last Day On 'Live'

Regis Philbin has announced that his last day of "Live With Regis and Kelly" will be November 18.

Philbin made the announcement during the show's season premiere on Tuesday. He had announced his retirement from the show after 28 years in January. On Tuesday, he joked, "Last January I made the announcement that I'll be moving on. But I never gave you an exact date. So I'm pushing it back five years. Just kidding."

His replacement hasn't been named yet, but Philbin and co-host Kelly Ripa discussed what it would be like trying out guest hosts. Philbin did the same when Kathie Lee Gifford was leaving. He joked that Ripa wanted to try out some "new young hot" studs.

"Alive and breathing is what we're talking about," Ripa jokingly fired back.

Producer Michael Gelman also chimed in to say that there is no short list of candidates, contradicting reports that the search was down to just three people.
