REPLY ALL: Meredith Vieira On Fear, Obsession And Her Secret Dream

Marlo Thomas checks in with the fetching queen of the small screen -- from game show host to talking head to newswoman.

If you could write a personal slogan that you live by, what would it be?
"Always be true to yourself and follow your heart. It will never lead you astray."

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I tend to overanalyze everything. That can drive you crazy.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
"You know what I mean?" And "Whatever."

What is your greatest fear?
Outliving my children.

What is your obsession?
Attempting to stay fit.

What is your secret dream?
To own a desert island and a frozen margarita machine.

Who or what always makes you laugh?
Any episode of Seinfeld.

Who is your personal hero?
My husband, Richard, who displays courage and grace everyday of his life.

Who do you text the most? How often?
The only person I text is my daughter, Lily, because she's more likely to answer me in a timely fashion. I'll be old(er) and grey(er) waiting for a returned phone call.

What is always at your bedside? In your purse?
I keep a pad of paper and a pen by my bed to write down any brilliant ideas that come to me in my sleep. So far, the pad is blank. And I don't carry a purse. I use a knapsack instead, and I have no idea what's inside, because it's a bottomless pit.

What do you collect?
I am not a collector, but as a kid I had lots of stuffed animals. (And I'm still partial to pigs!)

What movie can you watch a million times without ever getting tired of it?
Hands down, The Wizard of Oz. And I still freak out when the Wicked Witch turns the hour glass upside down and mimics Auntie Em!

Which of the seven deadly sins is your favorite?
Sloth. I even love the sound of it.

What is always in your refrigerator?
A bottle of white wine and blueberries.

When you're watching TV, what makes you want to throw the remote at the screen?
When The Bachelor comes on, because I know the show is ridiculous, yet I can't stop watching it. I need an intervention.

What is your current state of mind?
Always a little ditsy.

Which song or songs would you make the soundtrack of your life?
"When You Wish Upon a Star." As a little girl, I really believed that was all it took to make your dreams come true. The older I get, the more I try to cling to that innocence.
