Journalists in Gaza faced a frightening situation on Thursday when they found themselves in the midst of an Israeli invasion of the territory.
Some reporters said they had been told to evacuate from their beachfront hotels. The apparent warnings came one day after many journalists witnessed an Israeli strike that killed four children near where they were staying.
Agence France Presse reporter Sara Hussein tweeted that she had been told her hotel was safe. But she added did not hold out much hope:
Nobody could tell how long the Israeli incursion would take, or what they were supposed to do if they could not stay in their hotels.
