Mitt Romney's presidential campaign will show a short video tribute to Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) on Tuesday, during the second night of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla.

The announcement by campaign officials Friday came after months of vocal, grassroots advocacy by supporters of the libertarian-leaning Texas congressman, Romney's former rival in the GOP primary. The video tribute will follow on the heels of a formal nominating event Monday, during which a few hundred Paul supporters are still expected to vote for him.

Romney strategist Russ Schriefer said the campaign decided to show the film after Paul supporters came to them with it. The campaign responded, "absolutely."

"Gov. Romney and Congressman Paul, while they certainly disagree on many issues, they have always have had, if you watched the debates this year, you have seen a lot of mutual respect between the two of them," Schriefer said.

Schriefer also noted that Ron Paul's son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will address the convention on Monday night.
