Retouched Images Might Be Labeled In UK, Christina Hendricks Hailed As Healthy Role Model

Britain's equalities minister Lynne Featherstone is leading the war against photo retouching in the fashion industry overseas and has hailed Christina Hendricks as the ideal role model for young girls, the Guardian UK reports.

Featherstone is organizing a series of discussions to be held this fall about Photoshopping, which she says contributes to "the dreadful pressure that young people, girls and women come under to conform to completely unachievable body stereotypes." She wants all airbrushed photographs to be labeled as such.

Featherstone named Hendricks as a healthy woman to look up to and called her "absolutely fabulous."

According to the Guardian, Featherstone added, "All women have felt that pressure of having to conform to an unrealistic stereotype, which plagues them their whole life. It is not just the immediate harm; it is something that lasts a lifetime. Young girls are under intense pressure the whole time."
