We've all had those moments when we see the house of our dreams... but it's a fixer-upper. Writer and filmmaker Tina Spangler (who reminds us a little bit of Carrie Brownstein) saw just that when she came upon a vintage cottage at Luxton Lake, a former vacation destination in upstate New York. While the rest of us would have sighed and turned right around after coming upon the dilapidated (though darling) home, Spangler rolled up her sleeves and did a retro renovation.
Back in 2009, Etsy visited the home after all the work was done. We still think the home is the perfect inspiration for summer -- even if you don't plan on touching so much as a hammer, let alone doing a renovation. Watch the video above to see for yourself, and to learn the fascinating history of Luxton Lake.
Tell us: Would you have done the same thing?
P.S. Be sure to check out "Lucky Lake," Spangler's documentary on the history of her community.
