NBC has renewed "Revolution" for a second season.

J.J. Abrams' post-apocalyptic drama got off to a good start in September, with the premiere drawing in 11.7 million viewers and a 4.1 rating among adults in the 18-49 demo.

The ratings remained solid until the show's four-month hiatus -- it was off the air from November 26 to March 25 -- but came back to weaker ratings upon its return, averaging about 6 million viewers.

Still, the network's decision to renew "Revolution" -- along with "Chicago Fire," "Law & Order: SVU," "Grimm" and "Parenthood" -- comes as no surprise.

Billy Burke and Annie Wersching, who play Miles and Emma on "Revolution respectively, tweeted about the renewal news:

Season 2 of the series, which also stars Giancarlo Esposito, Tracy Spiridakos and Elizabeth Mitchell, will be 22 episodes.

"Revolution" airs on Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
