"Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards was allegedly homeless and living out of her car before her shoplifting arrest this week.

TMZ reported Richards stayed with family and friends after leaving rehab last month, but apparently has been homeless and living out of her car. The site previously claimed she lost her rental house in the Valley due to financial issues. People magazine reported she was living with her sister, Kathy Hilton, and kept her belongings in storage before her rehab stint.

The reality star and child actress, who appeared in "Nanny and the Professor" and "Escape To Witch Mountain," was arrested Sunday for shoplifting. She was stopped by security at a Target in Southern California Sunday night after leaving the store with three carts of merchandise, one of which was filled with $600 worth of toys that she did not pay for, according to Entertainment Tonight. Her bail was set at $5,000 and she was released the next day.

"I couldn't imagine Kim stealing or shoplifting anything. She is a giver," her ex-husband Monty Brinson told ET. "I am in complete shock. Guaranteed this must be some kind of mistake, and the facts will come out soon. She was arrested for shoplifting toys in a cart, but this was a clear misunderstanding. This was not alcohol- or drug-related."

Richards was arrested back in April at the Beverly Hills Hotel and was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, battery on a police officer and public intoxication after an incident at the hotel's Polo Lounge.

Richards' struggles with sobriety were documented during Season 5 of "RHOBH." She lashed out at her co-star and sister, Kyle Richards, as well as other cast mates who were worried she had relapsed. At the time, she denied the claims.

On Wednesday, Kyle Richards posted a quote on Instagram about thinking twice before passing judgement on others.

A representative for Kim was not immediately available for comment at time of publication.
