Richard Gaylord Jr., 81-Year-Old, Honored By The Red Cross For 272 Blood Donations

The American Red Cross has honored Richard Gaylord Jr. for his 272nd blood donation. WWLP reports Gaylord has donated 34 gallons of blood over the years -- since his first donation in 1946. Gaylord has a rare AB positive blood type and, by giving blood about every eight weeks, Gaylord has contributed blood to 817 patients in need over his lifetime.

Gaylord says,

"It's a good feeling to know you've helped out, maybe kept someone alive who wouldn't otherwise be here."
