Talkative Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman isn't going to argue against the perception that his team has a problem with performance-enhancing drugs.
In an interview with ESPN The Magazine, Sherman said "it does seem that way" when asked whether the Seahawks have a PED problem.
Since 2011, six Seahawks players have been hit with PED suspensions, with defensive end Bruce Irvin becoming the latest player to be disciplined for a positive test for a banned substance. According to NFL.com, the Seahawks have had more PED suspensions than any other team in the league since head coach Pete Carroll took over for the 2010 season.
The NFL issued Sherman a four-game suspension in November 2012 for testing positive for a banned substance, reportedly Adderrall, but he successfully appealed the move.
Not long after Irvin's suspension was announced in May, Seattle safety Kam Chancellor said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that his team needs to "grow up."
"We had a meeting. the vets, we put a meeting together to talk to the guys about not making the same mistakes over and over. We have to grow up and move past that," Chancellor said, via the official Twitter account of SiriusXM NFL Radio. "That's pretty much the message right now, growing up and not making the same mistakes over and over."
While the Seahawks players held a meeting, Carroll told Elise Woodward of KJR-FM that he will re-evaluate the team's PED policy.
"It's not right yet. We have to figure it out through education, or finding other ways," Carroll told Woodward a few days after Irvin was suspended.
