Dangerous Minds posted a clip from this classic SCTV sketch earlier today, and we just had to track down the whole thing.
"The Gerry Todd Show," starring Rick Moranis as the titular character as well as cover song crooner Tom Monroe, was an "all-night televised radio" spoof featuring fake sponsors, weather reports and, yes, music videos. The various segments, featuring the rest of the SCTV ensemble, shockingly anticipate the coming of MTV, and frankly Internet culture.
But our favorite part of this may simply be watching Gerry Todd work his AV board, repeatedly bringing up the logo for the show and controlling the other graphics. It's a subtle touch, underlining the question, "Why would anyone watch this?"
