Rick Perry Defends Gaffes: Voters 'Aren't Looking For A Robot'

Rick Perry defended his most recent "oops" moment on Fox News Sunday.

"[Voters] aren't looking for a robot...or someone who's gonna be perfect in every way. They're looking for someone who's got values," he said.

During an interview with the Des Moines Register on Friday, Perry referred to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor as "Montomayor."

He admitted to Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace that "I don't have memorized all of the Supreme Court judges," but asserted that voters were more concerned with candidates' values than their ability to "read a teleprompter perfectly or spit out by memory a list of names."

Voters have not responded well to Perry's campaign, which has been plagued by a series of gaffes. A recent Quinnipiac poll showed only 3 or 4 percent of voters favored Perry in key swing states.

Perry has taken hits for claiming the U.S. is at war with Iran, confusing the legal voting age, and forgetting the name of one of the three federal agencies he vowed to cut as president.
