Rick Santorum Confronted By Transgender Activist

In South Carolina, Rick Santorum has fielded fewer questions on LGBT rights than he did in New Hampshire, but things got tense on Thursday when a transgender activist stormed his press conference in Mt. Pleasant.

Kneena Raheja, 20, yelled, "Mr. Santorum, you have spilled queer blood!" as the GOP presidential hopeful finished speaking, according to BuzzFeed. It was a tough crowd; just one man reportedly snickered.

Raheja later told Buzzfeed that she thinks "people like Rick Santorum are actively violent towards the queer population."

It was the second confrontation Santorum had with the LBGT community on Thursday. A group of protestors glitter-bombed him at a rally hosted by the Family Research Council, according to Real Clear Politics.

Santorum's stance on gay rights has earned him a series of colorful encounters with voters. In New Hampshire he compared gay marriage to polygamy, was asked whether he would abort a gay baby and got into a heated exchange with students at a progressive high school.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story stated that Raheja was born a boy. Raheja responded to the Buzzfeed story on her blog, correcting an erroneous assumption: "I am female assigned at birth, and when I was 18 I learned that I am Queer Bodied ( a term that I am using to mean that I am neither male or female, but not able to get down with the term intersex). I would've told this to the interviewer, but she never asked. She only asked if I was trans, and I said yes."

The former Pennsylvania senator has a lot to say about how people should have sex. Below are some highlights:
