Springfield: 'My Mugshot's Better Than Nick Nolte's'

Rick Springfield, who is battling an ugly DUI case in Los Angeles, couldn’t have been in a better mood when I spoke with him last week about his very public mug shot and posing naked!

“I have seen my mug shot,” Springfield tells me. “It’s way better than Nick Noltes. I’m thinking of going back, cause I liked the lighting so much, and doing a shoot.”

The 1980's rocker plead not guilty to driving while intoxicated and will face trial in August where he could be looking at a maximum of six months behind bars and a $1,000 fine if he's found guilty. Although, he can’t be that worried; he’s busy planning another fan cruise, setting sail November 12th.

“This is going to be the final one,” Springfield tells me. “They have been so great I didn’t want to get to the point where we go 'this one wasn’t as much fun as last one.' They have been incredible I want to leave it on a high note. We will come back and do something different.”

Springfield describes the trip as an onboard party, 5 days of nonstop fun during which he is very accessible to all of his fans.

“They meet me walking down the halls," he explains. "I walk into [the] piano bar with a glass of wine and do a set at 2:00 am in the morning. I will play for an hour and a half. We go swimming and to the beach. Jack Wagner is coming on-board this time.”

And not only does Springfield strip down and relax in the sun with his fans, he's baring it all in the pages of his memoir. The paperback edition of his book "Late, Late at Night," comes with a new chapter and a naked photo of Springfield at age 21.

"I’ve never thought of myself as a sex symbol. I don’t think anyone in their right mind thinks they are. Sometimes you look in a mirror and think '[I] look okay today' ... I’m going to challenge myself to do a follow-up naked picture all these [years] later on the boat,” Rick promises.
