Rick Warren Cancels ABC Appearance "Moments Before," Claims "Exhaustion"

UPDATE: An aide to the pastor tells Politico that "There has been a lot of blog chatter trying to connect the dots with the interviews this weekend and comments Dr. Warren made on CNN Larry King Live, but his cancellations were related to health and fatigue." The aide elaborates that Rick Warren's "fatigue and exhaustion," forcing him to cancel several sermons in addition to his appearance on ABC News, were "exacerbated by inhalation of fumes from the newly refurbished (but still drying) pulpit used in the televised services the previous night."

Pastor Rick Warren who last week denied ever supporting California's anti-gay marriage Proposition 8 despite evidence to the contrary, has now bailed on an opportunity to explain himself.

Warren canceled an Easter Sunday appearance on ABC's "This Week" just "moments before the scheduled interview," host George Stephanopoulos told viewers.

Warren's representatives said the best-selling evangelical author was "sick with exhaustion." Stephanopolous told viewers that he hoped the pastor recovered quickly.

On Larry King last week, Warren asserted that "during the whole Proposition 8 thing, I never once went to a meeting, never once issued a statement, never -- never once even gave an endorsement in the two years Prop 8 was going." However, Warren endorsed the measure in a video.
