Rick Weiland Loses Midterm Election Race For Senate To Former South Dakota Governor

Democrat Rick Weiland lost the U.S. Senate race in South Dakota to his GOP rival, former Gov. Mike Rounds, NBC News and CNN report.

Weiland recently made headlines when he accused the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee of sabotaging his election by airing ads that "help [Independent candidate] Larry Pressler, not the candidate of the party you are supposed to be campaigning for," according to Business Insider. Pressler was running as an Independent.

Independent candidate Gordon Howie was also on the ballot.
