Ricky Martin Changes 'She' To 'He' During Performance Of 'She's All I Ever Had' In Morocco (VIDEO)

WATCH: Ricky Martin Makes Subtle (But Profound) Stand For Gay Rights In Morocco

Ricky Martin surprised fans when he changed the word "she" to "he" during a performance of one of his biggest hits at a music festival in Morocco.

Martin made the pronoun swap while singing his 1999 smash, "She's All I Ever Had," at Morocco's Marwazine Music Festival, according to reports.

"It’s the way he understands/He’s my lover, he’s my friend," Martin crooned during the number, as seen in video footage. "When I look into his eyes it’s the way I feel inside/Like the man I want to be / He’s all I ever need.”

Martin's lyric tweak may have been subtle, but as ThinkProgress reports, it was a profound message in Morocco, where being gay is a crime punishable by imprisonment. Last month, six Moroccan men were reportedly jailed for being gay.

Just who Martin may have been referencing in the song remains a mystery. The 42-year-old superstar and longtime boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez Abella reportedly called it quits in December. Since then, he's been romantically linked to Uruguayan actor Federico Diaz, who came out as gay earlier this spring.
