Ricky Martin Unveils World Cup 'SuperSong' Global Music Contest To Find Brazil 2014 Anthem (VIDEO)

The search for the next World Cup anthem has begun.

Ricky Martin has partnered with SONY to unveil a global music contest that will give fans across the world the opportunity to compose the official song of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The “SuperSong” competition was announced earlier this month with a video and will open for submissions in December.

“It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are, you have the chance to become a star and write the song of the next World Cup, and I will record it,” the singer says in a video introducing the contest.

Those who want to participate must enter the competition through the SuperSong official website later this year.

The winner’s song will be in good hands since Ricky is no stranger to World Cup anthems. The Puerto-Rican superstar rose to prominence when he recorded “La Copa de la Vida” (Cup Of Life) as the official song of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.

The last World Cup anthem, “Waka Waka,” was recorded by fellow Latin star and Colombian singer Shakira for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
