Rihanna and James Franco: not just a relationship that ends with YouTube tributes.
The pop superstar and the Oscar-nominated actor almost worked together on the video for RiRi's "We Found Love." As Franco told MTV's Josh Horowitz, "She actually asked me to be in that video, the one with the relationship that gets crazy. I couldn't do it. But, I guess, I hope that that means there's mutual love between us."
As you'll recall, Franco recently posted a video of himself lip syncing along with Rihanna's "You Da One."
While the Franco-Rihanna video for "We Found Love" never came to fruition (model Dudley O'Shaughnessy played Nana's love interest in the clip), the pair might appear onscreen together soon enough. Franco told MTV that Rihanna could make an appearance in "The End of the World," Seth Rogen's apocalypse comedy.
That film -- previously titled "Jay And Seth Vs. The Apocalypse," and then just "The Apocalypse" -- will boast an all-star comedy cast (Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Franco, Jonah Hill, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride) and focus on what happens when the apocalypse happens during a Hollywood party. The actors would play themselves -- or variations of themselves -- in the film, which Rogen and Evan Goldberg ("Superbad") are writing. Goldberg will direct "The End of the World," which began life as an Internet short.
Look for "The End of the World" in theaters on June 14, 2013. Watch the Franco-less video for "We Found Love" below, just because.
