Check off another victory for the unvanquished Rihanna, who can no longer count her platinum-selling albums on one hand.
The "Diamonds" singer's seventh album, "Unapologetic," has now become her sixth effort to sell more than 1 million copies. The only album not to cross that threshold is her first, 2005's "Music of the Sun."
"Unapologetic" hit the million mark in its 27th week, after selling another 9,400 copies during the week ending May 26, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album has produced two Top 5 singles: "Diamonds," which hit No. 1 and was certified four-times platinum, and "Stay," which climbed to No. 3. The third single, "Pour It Up," peaked at No. 19, while her latest single, "Right Now," was just released May 28.
The album will have to continue its trajectory if Rihanna wants it to top her best-selling effort to date, 2005's "Good Girl Gone Bad," which has sold an impressive 2.8 million copies so far. "Good Girl" features some of Rihanna's biggest singles, including "Umbrella," "Don't Stop the Music" and "Disturbia," the latter of which was released on the album's "Reloaded" version.
This isn't the first milestone for "Unapologetic," which became RiRi's first album to debut at No. 1 upon its release in November, even though the 238,000 copies sold during its first week falls short of initial numbers set by other popular artists like Daft Punk (339,000), Taylor Swift (1.2 million), Justin Timberlake (968,000) and Mumford & Sons (600,000).
