Drubbling Record: Riley McLincha, 61, Run 8.44 Minute Mile While Dribbling Three Basketballs (VIDEO)

Bet You Can't Juggle Three Basketballs While Jogging Like This Guy

Some people Ryan McLincha's age shuffle down the street in walkers. This 61-year-old just set a world record running a mile in 8 minutes, 44 seconds -- while dribbling three basketballs at once.

McLincha, of Clio, Mich., is the world's foremost "drubbler," a sport he created 19 years ago while working for General Motors.

"I actually learned to do it at the gym," McLincha told The Huffington Post.

McLincha has "drubbled" at various Ripley's Believe It Or Not! museums, on NBC's "Today Show," and all the way through the Boston Marathon. He's also mentioned on a question in Trivial Pursuit.

But a world record eluded him until earlier this week.

"Guinness World Records wouldn't accept it because they thought it was too close to 'joggling,'" he lamented.

"Drubbling is harder than joggling," McLincha said. "The bouncing makes it more physical, plus you're dealing with roads, rocks and potholes. You have to scope out the road."

When Guinness turned down McLincha's record attempt, he thought his chance at immortality had bounced away like an errant ball hitting a pebble.

Then, RecordSetter.com, an upstart adjudicating agency thatallows people to submit their own wacky world records, helped him out.

McLincha had a friend film him "drubbling" four laps around a track. He set the video to the theme of "Chariots Of Fire," and sent it to the website for approval

"Riley's ability to combine juggling, dribbling and running is, to put it frankly, genius," Dan Rollman, a RecordSetter.com judge, said. "I'd love nothing more than for members of the International Olympic Committee to see this video and consider including it as a sport in the 2016 Summer Olympics."

McLincha's goals are more mundane.

"No one has duplicated this," he said. "I'd like to get other people to try it, but it's kind of loud and that annoys some people."
