Actress, singer and producer Rita Wilson shared some excellent news Wednesday: she's beaten breast cancer.
In April, Wilson revealed she'd undergone a double mastectomy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and was in recovery. Now, less than a year later, she reports it's all behind her.
"I am cancer free. I'm one hundred percent healthy!" Wilson announced at The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment breakfast Wednesday, People reports.
Wilson, Huff/Post 50's editor-at-large, has been open about her health battle, in hopes of educating other women on the importance of a second opinion. She shared that it was only after a second biopsy that the cancer was discovered.
At the time, she took a brief leave of absence from her play, "Fish in the Dark," to recover, but quickly returned. Now that she's cancer free, Wilson says she'll be going full-steam ahead with her band's tour, with husband, Tom Hanks, in tow.
"I feel really blessed and very lucky," she told People. "Part of the reason for going on tour is that I want to show people that you can have cancer, and you can still be out there doing what you love to do, and it's not a death sentence like it used to be."
Indeed, the 59-year-old has had a big year, not only with her Broadway role but also with the release of her music video, "Girls Night In."
