Rita Wilson: We're Looking For Longtime Male Best Friends

George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Bromances are a thing of beauty.

Dear Readers,

Since October 2011, Huff/Post50 has sought to remind people that we can still accomplish great things -- while also having loads of fun -- whether we're 21 or 51 or 101. Through it all, one of the most powerful messages we've tried to impart is the importance of friendships in our lives.

Longtime friends can be a lifeline, especially as we grow older. We laugh with them. We cry with them. We bitch with them. We drink wine with them. And, if we're really lucky, we bask in their glow -- believing we can do anything so long as they're by our side.

In the past year, we've shared stories of women who have been best friends for decades, proved that men and women can be just friends, and that show us we all need to have a much older (or younger) friend to learn from. Now we're looking at you, men. Are you a man who's had a male best friend for a long time? We're working on a story that highlights the importance of male friendships and we'd love to include then-and-now photos of you and your best male friend.

If you are 50 or older and would like to be considered, send a photo of you and your friend or friends from long ago and a recent one to friendship50@huffingtonpost.com. We'd also love to receive a few sentences about why you believe the friendship has stood the test of time. Don't forget to tell us your names and ages as well as how long you've been friends. And please put "male friendship" in the subject line.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 13th at 5 p.m. Help us celebrate the beauty of all kinds of long friendships.
