You never know what amazing opportunity will pop up on your next road trip.
Stefan Krasowski, a blogger at Rapid Travel Chai, learned that firsthand when he took a trip to Tunisia just before the Arab Spring. He spent a week learning to drive a stick shift for the trip, and even though he was far from mastering it, he realized when he arrived that his driving was a pretty big deal.
The country has "very little public transport," Krasowski told HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani, so hitchhiking is the way of life. That gave Krasowski the chance to chauffeur the locals and have a unique experience he never expected.
"I spent a week driving around, picking up soldiers, going to posts, families on grocery shopping, pilgrims going to religious sites and getting to know the people as I visited 'Star Wars' film locations and ancient Roman sites," he said.
