Robert McGee, NYPD Officer Probed In Ticket Fixing Scandals, Allegedly Attempts Suicide

Robert McGee, an NYPD officer who had been under investigation for a large-scale ticket fixing scandal, grabbed hold of the third rail of a subway track in the Bronx on Wednesday morning in an apparent suicide attempt.

The 62-year-old, who has been with the NYPD for over three decades, had reportedly been under tremendous amount of stress after hearing news he would be called to stand trial against fellow officers about the ticket fixing scandal in the New York Police Department over the past months. His wife called the cops and said that McGee was suicidal, the New York Post reports.

A transit officer found McGee with a burnt hand in the 238th Street subway station on the No. 1 line and was then taken to North Central Bronx Hospital where he is in stable condition.

McGee tried to retire from the force back in March, but was denied as the investigation grew and extensive wiretapping throughout the department was being used.

"He's our most senior delegate and very respected. He's under a lot of pressure from the job," PBA Bronx Trustee Joe Anthony said of McGee.

McGee testified last week with immunity and is not expected to face any charges.
