What Robin Williams Taught This Woman About Being Alone

Robin Williams taught the world about many things -- life, love, acting and kindness, to name a few.

But for writer Wendy Braitman, the late actor taught her the truth about being, and feeling, alone.

Braitman shared a quote from Robin Williams with HuffPost Live host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani that particularly resonated with her: "I used to think the worst thing in life is to end up alone. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel alone."

Indeed, Braitman noted that sometimes you can feel the most lonely even when you're not actually physically alone. Being single also comes with its own unique set of challenges, but it also provides an opportunity to create a sort of life where you never actually feel alone.

“I now have this tradition on Christmas day where I invite people over to my house for dinner,” said Braitman. “When you’re single you have, in some ways, more control to have a thriving, bustling life where you’re around people who you care about.”
