Poachers Are Getting Fooled By Robo-Animals

These animal decoys are helping officials catch illegal hunters.

Wildlife officials are using a bit of trickery to catch poachers who are hunting out of season or on illegal lands. They're increasingly using fake wildlife decoys -- that look just like deer, wolves, foxes and more -- to bait and catch illegal hunters. According to the Washington Post, the remote-controlled robotic animals look surprisingly real and come with a hefty price tag, costing up to $5,000 for a black bear decoy. But the investment is well worth it for officials, who can collect up to an estimated $30,000 in fines from one faux animal.
