Rockies Win 6th Straight, Padres Keep Pace: Is Rocktober Still In The Cards? (VOTE)

Rockies Win 6th Straight, Padres Keep Pace: Is Rocktober Still In The Cards? (VOTE)

Just weeks ago, baseball gurus were writing off the Colorado Rockies for the season. Thanks--at least in part--to injuries, the team found itself in need of a repeat of its miracle 2007 finish in order to make the playoffs.

As fate should have it, the Rockies now look poised to make another miraculous run this September. The team won its sixth straight game on Wednesday, and now sits just 4.5 games back of both the National League West title and the Wildcard.

That, however, is not to say that the Rockies don't have a tall task ahead with just 23 games left in the season. ESPN personality and former manager Bobby Valentine said Wednesday night (view below) that he doesn't think the Rockies have the quality pitching necessary to repeat their dramatic 2007 resurrection. Starter Aaron Cook's freak injury on Wednesday won't help their cause either.

Valentine did say that the team's chances will be bolstered by the number of home games the team still has to play. The team is 46-22 so far at home this year.
