Rod Blagojevich Birthday Note: Ex-Gov Sends Letter To Fellow Inmate's Son: 'Stay Out Of Politics' (VIDEO)

Blagojevich Writes To Inmate's Son: 'Stay Out Of Politics'

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has said he was "totally bored" while serving his 14-year jail sentence for corruption in a Colorado jail, but Fox Chicago reports that the charismatic politician is making fast friends.

According to Fox, Blagojevich penned a birthday note to the son of a convicted Gurnee, Ill. bank robber, assuring him that his father is "well liked" and a "good guy," but urging the youngster that "whatever you do--stay out of politics." While wife Patti Blagojevich has described the prison in suburban Denver as "one of the saddest places on earth," the former governor seems to be in good spirits.

After high-fiving other inmates on his way into the Englewood facility when he began serving his sentence in March, Blagojevich sent a heartwarming email to wife Patti on their anniversary last month, calling his life "as a whole" "blessed" and hinting at plans to take her out on a date "next year," optimistic about the state of his appeal efforts.
