In a blast that could be heard around the world, rocker Roger Waters took the stage at Desert Trip and let both barrels rip on Donald Trump.
The Pink Floyd founder called Trump an “ignorant, lying, racist, sexist pig.” And that was him just warming up.
The 73-year-old singer-songwriter also denounced war and addressed the Black Lives Matter movement in his 2.5-hour set that closed out the first weekend of the legendary rock concert in Indio, California. The sold-out concert drew fans from around the globe and was widely covered in the media.
Trump’s face appeared on the massive video screen above the stage with the word “Charade” across it as Waters performed the Pink Floyd song “Pigs (Three Different Ones).” Other images showed Trump sporting a Ku Klux Klan hood. And then there was the big balloon shaped like a pig that floated above the audience. Trump’s face was painted on the side with the words “Ignorant, lying, racist, sexist pig.” And to rub it in more, giant letters flashed across the big screen reading “Trump is a pig.”
During “Another Brick in the Wall (Part II),” Waters had 15 school-age children come onstage wearing T-shirts that read, “Derriba el muro” ― Spanish for “Take down the wall.”
Waters performed on the same night as the second presidential debate.
