Earlier this month, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood reportedly told the media that The Stones would head back to the recording studio soon "to just throw some ideas around." As it turns out, this report wasn't entirely accurate.
Wood is clearing up the rumors and apologizing to Rolling Stones fans for the misunderstanding. At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony -- where the guitarist was inducted again, this time with the band The Faces -- Wood told Billboard that The Stones will not be hitting the studio later this month.
Unfortunately, for Wood, frontman Mick Jagger wasn't too happy about the whole ordeal. "I heard from [Mick] Jagger; he's going, 'What the hell?! We don't know anything yet!' And I said, 'You know what [the media] are like. I just expressed my personal view; I would love to go into the studio.' Then they took it all wrong," Wood told Billboard.
He also revealed that the plans to commemorate The Rolling Stones' 50th anniversary have not yet been set. It was earlier reported that The Stones will not tour to mark their anniversary this year. Instead, the anniversary tour has reportedly been pushed back to 2013.
The Rolling Stones' last tour together, 2005's "A Bigger Bang," was the highest-grossing tour of all time before being topped by U2's 2009-2011 tour, 360.
In 2010, Jagger recorded a new version of "Plundered My Soul" for the "Exile on Main St." re-release. Of course, he also released a new album with his supergroup, SuperHeavy, last year.
Meanwhile, Wood is currently exhibiting his painting collection entitled "Faces, Time and Places" at Broome Street Gallery in New York. Wood's collection will show at the gallery until June 30th.
