Romney Super PAC, Restore Our Future, Raises Record $20 Million In June

Super PAC Raises Record Amount

Restore Our Future, a super PAC backing Mitt Romney, continues to set a new precedent for super PAC financing with a record $20 million raised in June, according to the Washington Post.

The amount is a significant jump from the $4.9 million the super PAC raised in May, and more than three times the total raised in June by pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA Action, which announced its own personal best of $6 million on Friday.

“This record-breaking fundraising effort is a tribute to the hard work of the entrepreneurs, small businesspeople, investors, and concerned citizens who believe America can do better than the Obama economy of the past years,” the super PAC’s treasurer Charlie Spies told the Post. “The Obama campaign, with no economic record to run on, is now resorting to lies and distortions. Restore Our Future has Mitt Romney’s back and will keep raising the resources to fight back against the Obama attack machine until victory on Nov. 7.”

Half of Restore Our Future's total came via a generous donation from casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, who pledged $10 million to the super PAC last month. The billionaire donor has contributed a total amount of at least $71 million during this election cycle.

President Barack Obama's team has repeatedly stressed to supporters that at the current rate, he will be the first president in modern history to be outspent in his reelection campaign. Obama's campaign pulled in $71 million in June, but still lagged behind the Romney campaign which raked in a record $106 million with the Republican National Committee in the same month.
