Ron Barber Loses To Martha McSally In Arizona

Rep. Ron Barber (D-Ariz.) was defeated by retired Air Force Col. Martha McSally (R) in the state's 2nd District, bringing the nation's last uncalled midterm race of the year to a close.

Barber was viewed as one of the most vulnerable Democratic congressional incumbents ahead of the general election. The race was called Wednesday with a 167 vote total separating the two.

The representative won a special election to succeed former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) after both were almost killed in a shooting rampage. Barber then beat McSally in November of that year, though by just 2,500 votes.
